Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect in terms of paperwork?
What should minors expect about accessing therapy?
After the initial appointment, confidentiality is ensured between the minor and the therapist unless safety concerns or other concerns require more parental/guardian involvement/attention. Specific limits to confidentiality are unique to each case and can be discussed further at the first appointment.
Do both parents/legal guardians need to be present and provide consent for the minor?
If custody arrangements indicate otherwise (e.g., there is a court order indicating sole custody and decision-making for the minor), the parent/legal guardian needs to bring in or email/forward proof and documentation of the court order. If further questions/concerns are not answered, contact Melissa Hanson directly.
Can I receive therapy if I am outside Alberta?
